Sew

A friend at work asked if I could possible help by sewing a tissue box cover for her downstairs toilet. They have redecorated the room with a nautical theme and luckily enough I had some fabric left over from my recent makes. Its basically a rectangle with both sides lined wit fabric and then fold over the fabric, sew on end closed and then at a popper at the other. I have then added two stitches at the centre to hold the two ends together and it also allows the tissues to come out from the centre. A cute item which I has now inspired me to make my own. It makes otherwise dull tissue boxes quite pretty.

We've recently changed our decor in the lounge/ dining room and I have been searching for place mats for a while but to no avail. I had left over fabric from my patchwork throw I made and decided to make my own place mats. I have used both the nautical fabric and also a red and cream stripe. In between the two layers I have used a woven table runner that I have cut into four to add protection against hot plates. They look great against the polka dot table cover and are washable too! All in all a productive Sunday afternoon.

These dainty rose earrings are new to my shop on Folksy. The roses are so sweet and come in so many colours. I love the pastel shades in this collection. A perfect finishing touch to any outfit.

I simply adore these cute cabbage rose rings that I now have in stock in my lovely shop on Folksy. I'm super excited as I have just received an enquiry in the possibility of purchasing some of my items wholesale. It's still very early days but I'm excited at the prospect of launching the MillieMooshu collection into shops and retailers, fingers crossed. xx

I was asked by a lovely friend if I could possibly help in making a prom dress with a difference for her daughters up and coming school prom. I was more than happy to take on the challenge and channel my inner goth. We had a few discussions as to what Caitie had in mind and then decided on creating a few pieces rather than the one dress. As you can see this was a masquerade prom and Caitie has such a lovely sense of personal style that she wanted something a bit different. I must confess that I shied away from making the corset, because although I love sewing I didn't think I could make one as great as the one we found online. I did however make the underskirt, top skirt and blouse top. The underskirt is similar to a ra-ra skirt with the layers of netting. I then created an over skirt layering lace and chiffon in petal shapes to the waistband. I also used the black lace to make to gypsy style blouse. It took some time as I only went by the few pictures we had of similar designs and made the outfit from scratch. No pre printed patterns were used, I did draw up a pattern for the blouse but otherwise it was all 'free hand''. I was so happy with the outcome and so was Caitie. I'm sure you will all agree that Caitie looks so stunning and makes a great model for my work. Thanks to Caitie and Christina for such a lovely commission. xx
